...but I am kind of goody-goody for a non-believer. What's up with that? I thought for sure I'd end up among the fornicators in Level 2!
The Dante's Inferno Test has sent you to the First Level of Hell - Limbo!
Charon ushers you across the river Acheron, and you find yourself upon the brink of grief's abysmal valley. You are in Limbo, a place of sorrow without torment. You encounter a seven-walled castle, and within those walls you find rolling fresh meadows illuminated by the light of reason, whereabout many shades dwell. These are the virtuous pagans, the great philosophers and authors, unbaptised children, and others unfit to enter the kingdom of heaven. You share company with Caesar, Homer, Virgil, Socrates, and Aristotle. There is no punishment here, and the atmosphere is peaceful, yet sad.
Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
Level | Score |
---|---|
Purgatory (Repenting Believers) | Very Low |
Level 1 - Limbo (Virtuous Non-Believers) | Very High |
Level 2 (Lustful) | Moderate |
Level 3 (Gluttonous) | Moderate |
Level 4 (Prodigal and Avaricious) | Very Low |
Level 5 (Wrathful and Gloomy) | Low |
Level 6 - The City of Dis (Heretics) | Moderate |
Level 7 (Violent) | Moderate |
Level 8- the Malebolge (Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers) | Moderate |
Level 9 - Cocytus (Treacherous) | Very Low |

I'm a level niner, GOD DAMMIT! Ooops, Sorry!
OK, you're scaring me and Virgo Sis, bro. What the hell have you done to get you to level 9?!
Virgo Sis, btw, was level 3, which is pretty funny considering all the things she *can't* eat.
Just in today - Nov 30. The Vatican is cancelling Limbo!! There was an NPR interview with a theologian at Notre Dame who claimed it is part of the more compassionate theology the church wants to practice!! Tell that to gay people. He also said that the church never meant to deny heaven to non believers!!! Tell that to the nuns who told me Mom couldn't go to heaven since she wasn't catholic. (I refuse to capitalize.)
Well, dammit, I was looking forward to Limbo -- get to hang out with good, interesting people with none of that God stuff. :)
And if you don't capitalize catholic, it just means universal. And I'm pretty sure Mom *isn't* universal. :)
No, she is unique!
